Dr. Smith is trained as a Prevention Scientist and currently holds the positions of Assistant Professor at the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, and Program Director for the Analytics and Psychopharmacology Laboratory. She is experienced in advanced quantitative analytics and multiple forms of qualitative analysis. Broadly, her research addresses Substance Use. Her research focuses on psychedelics, cannabis, opioids, and genomics. This has led to collaborations locally, within the Pacific Northwest, as well as nation- and world-wide. She has been a Co-Investigator or Research Supervisor on over $20 million in grants and contracts over the 10 years she has been with WSU, resulting in 40 peer reviewed publications and 3 book chapters. She has served on the editorial board of the journal Psychology of Addictive Behaviors and reviewed for 20 journals, serves on the Center for Cannabis Policy, Research, and Outreach Board; and is a collaborator of the Center for Novel Therapeutics in Addiction Psychiatry.
